A Great Day

So, yesterday was just one of those days that was so sweet. It's nice to have those once in a while. It wasn't anything big or exciting or pre-planned, it just sort of happened. My friend Angie came over for the afternoon and, because it was such a beautiful day, we decided to take advantage of it and go for a bike ride. It was perfect. We rode down to a bike trail in Huron that runs along the Huron River and listened to the birds and insects, looked at the pretty flowers, and just absolutely had a great time. It was definitely one of my favorite days of the summer.
Here are some pictures from our wonderful day.
(By the way...I have no idea how to arrange pictures on this thing, they just sort of show up in any old layout, so bare with me!)
We saw this graffiti while riding beneath an old railraod bridge...for Angie's sake I restrained myself from breaking out into "Ice, Ice Baby" with dance moves and all.
The picture of the snake is the snake Angie ran over with her bike. The snake survived; Angie almost didn't.
The picture of the person is Angie (Any hints from the family on arranging these pictures???? I have no idea where these "captions" will show up, so I don't know what to write! Help!)
Anyhoo...we had a sweet day, saw some interesting things, and got some exercise. Good times.

Sounds like a fun day...except for the snake - ewwwww!!

After you post photos, you can click on them and drag them where you want to them. I usually type my text first, then upload the photos, and then put them where I want them.

By the way...the previous comment is total random spam...it's not someone stalking your blog or anything. Their sites just pick random blogs and leave this comment automatically. I think you can select something on your start up page so you don't get them...I'll double check.

Oh! I guess I CAN add comments now! I entered that last one as a test and it worked. If I had a bike vs snake encounter, my shrieking alone would have finished the snake off. Of course, I'd have also crashed while trying to cover my eyes and ears! Aunt Barb

Mom- why would you cover your ears from a snake???

Sounds like a great day! I love that you are still considering it "summer"! I'm wayyy into fall now; Well, except for today, since it was 85, and I sat outside in the sun w/ a book, a very summery thing to do.
I'm off to find out how to make $900 a month having fun! Just kidding...

You neglected to mention that the snake touched the tires of your mother's bike. EWWW! I'm impressed that you got close enough for a picture.

I too am curious why seeing a snake would result in covering your ears Barb! Not a fan of snakes, but at least it was where it belonged and not in your house or something!

Jill, I definitely appreciate your comment, coming from a Texan. You've put us Ohioans back into perspective. Thanks.

I had a snake on my back porch one day. Carsyn, the dog and I all looked out the window and watched as it coiled under the barbecue and camped out all afternoon. I didn't leave my house at all. I did call Jill and tell her about it...as if she could help. When Scott came home I told him to watch out for the deadly large rattlesnake (texas, right?). He managed to chop off it's head with a garden hoe while I screamed. He swears it was just a little garden snake, but I know better!

To add my own snake story, well, not my own, but my friend's... My friend Jenn called me one morning (she teaches with me) crying so hard and saying she'd be late. I assumed something happened to her husband (army) but somehow I got out of her that it was a snake. She had a rattlesnake on her steps from downstairs to upstairs, inside. And to make it worse, she had already come down those steps, and stepped almost on it but didn't know since it was at the back of the step and she didn't see it. And I have to add that her biggest phobia is snakes. I'd much rather run over a small snake on my bike, outside in nature! :)

duh! If you run over a snake with a bike, you SEE the body smash apart (cover eyes), HEAR the sound of the squish-splat (cover your EARS)... and I forgot to mention FEEL the snake under the tire (probably throw up now)When I was a girl, I thought I'd like to be a nurse like Sue Barton, R.N. ... maybe even a surgical nurse like on Ben Casey! hmmmmmmmm Aunt Barb
